Inspection scopes may be developed for storage tanks, pressure vessels that are out of service, process vessels, pits, vaults, wet wells, silos, digesters, large-diameter piping, and other spaces with limited entry or exit. Feasibility depends on configuration, hazards, isolation, cleanliness, access, and site requirements.

Physical entry generally requires the asset to be removed from service, isolated, cleaned as needed, and prepared under the owner’s confined-space program. If keeping a water tank in service is important, an ROV tank survey may be an alternative for certain underwater observations.
